In the Community: August 26, 2013
A Weekly Listing of Diversity and Multicultural Events
From the Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony

Fifty years ago this week, on August 28, 1963, at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, a 34-year-old minister gave one of the most meaningful and powerful speeches in U.S. history, attended by some 250,000 people in Washington, DC.  You can watch and listen to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 17 ½-minute speech on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZwmoVYEwV4
"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.'...we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day...."
