Hagen of the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center, discussing USCIS bars and deportation and how legal permanent residents can become U.S. citizens. Fri, Mar 11, 7:30 pm: Film, "Seven Passages," documentary based on over 100 interviews with gay and lesbian Christians in southwest Michigan; aims to create dialogue with the Christian community and work for reconciliation.  Free; donations optional.  Sponsored by Holland Is Ready, a community group working for the safety, rights, and inclusion of LGBT persons in the Lakeshore area.  NOTE:  The Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony (ACEH) will not hold a general meeting in March; instead, ACEH members and friends are encouraged to attend this film.  At Park Theatre, 248 South River (between 10th and 11th Sts), Holland.

 

Sat, Mar 12, noon: St. Patrick's Day Parade, traveling east from the Eighth Street Marketplace along Eighth Street to College Ave, Holland.  Families and individuals wearing green may participate and carry Irish flags.  All other parade participants must be registered (see entry at Mar 8, above).  People are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item for Community Action House.

Qumsiyeh discusses his new book "Popular Resistance in Palestine: A History of Hope and Empowerment," which analyzes the history of civil resistance in Palestine, presenting challenges and opportunities of different historical periods with emphasis on trends, directions, and lessons learned.  At Micah Center, Hope Reformed Church, corner of Kalamazoo and Burton, Grand Rapids.

RECRUITMENT AND INTERVIEW EVENT
