Mon, April 18 - Sat, April 23: Helping the Homeless: Adding $1 to your bill this week at these three Holland restaurants—The Biscuit, deBoer Bakkerij, New Holland Brewing Company—will aid the Lakeshore Housing Alliance work toward long-term solutions to prevent and end homelessness in Ottawa County.

 

Mon, April 18, 4:30 – 6:30 pm:  CultureWorks reception for The ST(O)RY exhibit "portraying the triumph of a community in Zambia through large-scale photographs from Poetice International"; panelists (at 5:30 pm) from Poetice offer "an inspiring perspective of using one's creative craft for good."  CultureWorks provides after-school and summer opportunities in various forms of art for diverse students from Holland-area middle and high schools.  (616) 990-1178.  At CultureWorks, 710 Chicago Dr, Suite 200 (next to Engedi Church), Holland.

Fri, April 15, 7 pm, support group; 8:10 pm, program: PFLAG meeting: "Transgender Issues at Hope College: Some Research Findings," presented by a junior at the college; her research includes 300 surveys of students, interviews, a comparison of resources at Calvin and GVSU, and suggested improvements for structural policies and organizations at Hope.  A trans group meets from 6 to 7 pm.

Dues are $20 per year for an individual ($35 for two years); $30 per year for a couple or family ($50 for two years; $40 annually for a nonprofit; and $75 per year for a business.  In lieu of (or in addition to) paying dues, you may join as a service member, contributing volunteer time to the group.  ACEH is a 501c3 organization.
