Noon to 5 pm: Open India market sale of clothes, purses, toys, art from India.

5 to 7 pm: Reception for  "India: A Celebration of Our Common Humanity,"  photography and paintings by Kandyce and Kathy Kingsley; exhibit runs through August 30.  Kids' crafts from India, music, art, samples of cuisine.

Sat, Aug 4, noon to 5 pm: Open India market at Holland Area Arts Council (see above); exhibit continues.

 

Sat, Aug 4, 7:30 pm (doors open at 6:30): Dance concert by Grammy Award-winner Little Joe and La Familia.  Tickets $20 ahead of time; $30 at the door.  Buy from Latin Americans United for Progress at 100 North Fairbanks, Holland, or call (616) 392-5058 for other locations.  At Holland Civic Center, between 8th and 9th Sts and Pine Ave, just west of downtown Holland.

Wed, Aug 8, 6 pm: "Memory, Truth and Justice: A Benefit for Guatemala," by students of Grand Valley State University global citizenship course.  $5 donation suggested.  Live music, food, information on Guatemalan nonprofit groups, photography, art, student documentary.
