Thurs, May 13, 9 am until noon:  Fair Housing training for rental professionals, presented by Fair Housing Center of West Michigan.  Covers services of the Center, housing discrimination, fair housing laws and their application, protected classes, more.  Cost $15 for nonprofit organizations. Thurs, May 20, 7:30 am until 2:30 pm: Lakeshore Region Summit on Racism, with keynote speakers Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum and Dr. Tony Campolo; breakout sessions on education, community/government, business, and faith.  $20 includes lunch.  Sponsored by Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance with collaboration of many area groups, including ACEH. VOLUNTEERS TO PACK SUMMIT MATERIALS:  Wed, May 19, 3 pm until 5 pm: Volunteers are needed to assemble registration packets for people attending the Lakeshore Summit on Racism.  Sign up by emailing admin@ethnicdiversity.org

(put Sign Up to Volunteer May 19 in the subject line).  Work will be done in the basement of Dimnent Chapel, Hope College, College Ave and 12th St, Holland.

 

COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITY:  The Center for Women in Transition needs personal care items and household cleaning products for the annual May Baskets it gives its clients.  Donations and baskets can be delivered to CWIT between May 3 and May 21 (weekdays 9 am until 5 pm, Thursdays until 7 pm), 411 Butternut, Holland.  Contact the volunteer coordinator at (616) 494-1747 or maybaskets@aplaceforwomen.org
