You may have heard the phrase: NIMBY (Not in My Backyard)—usually referring to a change we oppose in our communities. At its Friday, June 10, meeting, the Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony (ACEH) will hear a different take on this—YIMBY (Yes, in My Backyard)--from regional diversity advocate Tedi Parsons.

Parsons will talk about "the personal responsibility we need to take for dealing with social justice and diversity issues in West Michigan and our own backyards."  Interactive discussion and questions and answers will be part of the presentation.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Center for Women in Transition, 411 Butternut, and the public is welcome.

"My passion is for issues centered on bullying, diversity, racism, the homeless, and other social issues as they impact our communities and the world around us," Parsons said.

His background is in human resources, management, and operations, and he has served on many area committees, performed community talkbacks, and is a board member of the Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance.

ACEH also WILL ELECT FOUR DIRECTORS JUNE 10
