ACEH was founded in Holland in 1999 and is committed to justice, equal opportunity, cross-cultural understanding, and appreciation for diversity. Members and friends work together through programs, outreach, advocacy, and social events to make West Michigan a place where all people are welcomed and respected. Will You Help Support ACEH and "In the Community"?

We publish "In the Community" for you, and now, as 2015 draws to a close, we are asking for your support to help continue ACEH and its diverse programs, publications, outreach, advocacy, partnerships, networking, and community social events.
It's easy—there are 3 ways to become a member:
--You can join at our website www.harmonyalliance.org through PayPal;
--You can write a check to ACEH, c/o Treasurer Al Minert, Box 3007, Holland, MI 49422-3007;
--Or you can join at any ACEH program or social event.
Dues are $20 per year for an individual ($35 for two years); $30 per year for a couple or family ($50 for two years; $40 annually for a nonprofit; and $75 per year for a business. In lieu of (or in addition to) paying dues, you may join as a service member, contributing volunteer time to the group.
ACEH is a 50l 3 c organization, so donations over the membership amount are deductible from your taxes as allowed by law.
We also award a scholarship each year to a graduating senior in the Upward Bound program. To make a tax-deductible contribution, please send a check to the post office address above, with Scholarship Fund in the memo.

Wed, Jan 6, 2016, 12:30 pm: Calvin College January Series opens: "Harvesting Hope and Cultivating Minds: Stories from the South Bronx," with educator Stephen Ritz, a Top Ten Finalist for the Global Teacher Prize, who believes "students should not have to leave their community to live, learn, and earn in a better one." Mon, Jan 18, 2016, 7 pm: Annual Martin Luther King Jr., Civil Rights Lecture. Keynote speaker is Hope College graduate David A. Paul. His lecture, "Dare to be BOLD," will examine King's early life and career and "what causes a man to aggressively fight against injustice." A particular focus will be Dr. King's courage to lead despite continuous and real threats to his life. At Dimnent Memorial Chapel, College Ave at 12th St, Holland.
Exhibit
"Common Ground: African American Art"; open through March 20: Sculptures, paintings, and works on paper by more than 60 artists, divided into 5 thematic areas: Gaining Access, New Self-Awareness, Political and Social Expressions, Examining Identities, and Towards Abstraction. Community Opportunities
Asian Americans Will be Featured in Story Collections. Beginning January 6 (also Jan 16, 20, 22, and 25) interested Asian Americans in the community can volunteer to share their story and be photographed at Herrick District Library.
