TONIGHT, Fri, Apr 12, 7 pm: Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony (ACEH) meeting: "Recognizing and Counteracting Microaggressions (when our biases show up in the community)": interactive workshop by Alan Headbloom of Grand Rapids. Sat, Apr 13, 7 pm: Hope College Community Gospel Choir Concert Spring 2019. Black gospel songs directly or derived from scripture. Choir includes Hope students, alumni, and community members. Free-will offering will be taken. At Dimnent Memorial Chapel, 277 College Ave, Holland.
Mon, Apr 15, 6:30 pm: Town Hall meeting on mental illness: ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences). Panelists, resources, small and large group discussions. Hosted by Ottawa County Community Mental Health with health and education co-sponsors. From 5 to 6 pm, training on suicide prevention will be presented; register for this at (616) 842-9160. Tues, Apr 16, 7 pm: Documentary on A.J. Muste (1885-1967), influential peace activist and executive director of the Fellowship of Reconciliation; he was a graduate of Hope College; film produced by Dr. David Schock, formerly of the Hope faculty. Muste Memorial Lecture delivered by Mary Neznek, disability educator, human rights activist, and conflict resolution specialist; she will focus on Muste's main areas of work and also discuss current war zones. Fri, Apr 19, 7 pm: Parents Families and Friends of GLBTQ PFLAG Holland/Lakeshore meeting: Discussion of documentary film Queers in the Kingdom: Let Your Light Shine, which "calls evangelical Christian institutions to account for their misguided and damaging practices of homophobia." Gender SAFE (Supporting All For Equality) meets from 6 pm to 8 pm. At Grace Episcopal Church, 555 Michigan Ave, Holland (both groups).

First of its kind in Holland, this event, known as the "Water Festival," marks the traditional New Year (April) in Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia—cleansing away the old and welcoming a new beginning. --Or you can write a check to ACEH, c/o Treasurer Al Minert, Box 3007, Holland, MI 49422-3007;
--Or you can join at any ACEH program or social event.
Dues are $20 per year for an individual ($35, two years);
$30 per year for a couple or family ($50, two years);
$40 for a nonprofit; $75 for a business.
In lieu of (or in addition to) paying dues, you may join as a service member, volunteering for the group. ACEH is a 501c3 organization. Our fiscal year is October 1 to September 30.
