TODAY, Fri, June 14, 5:30 pm: Celebrating Black Excellence Dinner: To honor graduating high school seniors from Holland area; opportunities for networking; panel discussion with Herman Miller leaders. Hosted by Herman Miller and Maple Avenue Ministries. Must have RSVPed by May 24. At Herman Miller Design Yard, 375 West 48th St, Holland (from parking lot, follow signs to the front door).
TONIGHT, Fri, June 14, 7 pm to 11 pm: Latin Dance Benefit Ball. Fundraiser for Westcore Neighbors organization "to help create events to bring neighbors together." Dance instruction from 7 pm to 8 pm. $10. At Merchant Hall, 438 Washington Ave, Holland.
Sat, June 15, noon to 6 pm: Freedom Family Festival. Celebrating the culture, accomplishments, diversity of the African diaspora. Marks 400th anniversary of chattel slavery in the US and 154th anniversary of its end (Juneteenth). Fine foods, entertainment, children's activities, fascinating culture, awarding of cash prizes for two outstanding graduates. ACEH will have information and activities. At Kollen Park, Lake Macatawa at 10th St, Holland.
Tues, June 18, 4:30 pm; cookout 6 pm; ball roll for prize packages, 7 pm: PARS for a Purpose Fundraiser for Disability Network/Lakeshore. Director Todd Whiteman will play 500 holes of golf to raise $35,000 through pledges and matching donations for Network's work with individuals with disabilities. info@dnlakeshore.org At Clearbrook Golf Club, 6494 Clearbrook Dr, Saugatuck.
Friday, June 21, 7 pm support meeting, 8 pm film: Documentary film "Stonewall Uprising," about the 1969 Stonewall Riots, which started the gay rights movement. Hosted by Holland/Lakeshore PFLAG. Gender SAFE (Supporting All For Equality) meets at 6 pm. At Grace Episcopal Church, 555 Michigan Ave, Holland.
Fri, June 21, 7 pm- 11 pm: Live entertainment as part of annual Holland PRIDE Festival (Funny Girls, Mimi Gonzalez, Delilah DeWylde). At Park Theater, River Ave across from Centennial Park, Holland.
Sat, June 22, noon to 5 pm: Holland PRIDE Festival, hosted by Out On The Lakeshore outonthelakeshore@gmail.com. Entertainment (DJ Shaw, Maciek the Magician, Groove Party), vendor booths with merchandise, information, food. ACEH will have an information booth. At Centennial Park, River Ave at 10th St, Holland.
Sat, June 22, 7 pm: HOSA (Holland Openly Secular Alliance). "Battle of the Titans: Mathematics versus Truth" presentation by Tim Pennings, Davenport University Math Dept. All are welcome; please bring a sweet or savory treat to share. At 451 Columbia Ave, Holland.

Volunteers needed at Community Action House: Want to lend a hand and some of your time to one of Holland's best agencies? Various positions are available at Community Action House, Community Kitchen, the general store, food pantry, and garden, including: greeters, donation van drivers, gardeners, thrift shop cashier, donation processors and sorters. Meet Up and Eat Up: Free summer food program for children 18 and younger, at 36 sites around Ottawa County. No eligibility or registration requirements, other than age. Some sites offer only lunch; some also offer activities; others serve both breakfast and lunch. Herrick District Library will offer breakfast on Fridays. Some sites are open Mon-Fri; others Mon-Thurs. All sites are closed July 4 and 5. --Or you can join at any ACEH program or social event.
Dues are $20 per year for an individual ($35, two years);
$30 per year for a couple or family ($50, two years);
$40 for a nonprofit; $75 for a business.
In lieu of (or in addition to) paying dues, you may join as a service member, volunteering for the group. ACEH is a 501c3 organization. Our fiscal year is October 1 to September 30.
