Tonight, Monday, May 1, 8 pm:  Candlelight vigil in support of immigrants and a humane governmental approach to this issue.  At Kollen Park, Van Raalte and 10th St., Holland.

 

Fri., May 5 (5 to 8 pm) and Sat., May 6 (9 am to 5 pm): 41st  Fiesta (formerly Cinco de Mayo), “Festival of Colors and Cultures” sponsored by Latin Americans United for Progress (LAUP).  Queen and king contests, music, low-rider cars, activities, food.  At Holland Civic Center, Pine Ave between 8th and 9th Sts.

 

Fri., May 5, 6:30 to 11 pm: Tulip Time entertainment and fireworks (rain date Saturday, May 6).  At Kollen Park, Van Raalte and 10th St., Holland.

 

Sat., May 6 to Saturday, May 13: 77th Tulip Time Festival, with events throughout Holland. Parades, concerts, Klompen dancing, shows, arts and crafts and…food.

 

Fri., May 12, 7 pm: Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony meeting; open to the public.  Learn more about the history of Holland, its founders and institutions. Special speaker. At Center for Women in Transition, 411 Butternut, Holland.  Call 786-0829; www.harmonyalliance.org
