Fri, June 29, 7 pm:  Alexander Washington performs a solo acoustic show, with his djimbe drum, performing songs he wrote during his recent trip to Ghana.  $7 at the door.  At Grass Cup Cafe and Coffeehouse, A-4607 60th Street (Laketown Twp), south side of Holland.

Fri, July 13, 7 pm:  Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony general meeting, open to the public. Special program to be announced.  At Center for Women in Transition, 411 Butternut, Holland.

 

Fri, July 13, 7 pm: Lakeshore Women for Peace gathering at the Peace Pole, including meditations, prayers.  Holland Mayor Al McGeehan will give a historical perspective on peace and patriotism.  At Smallenberg Park, Fairbanks Ave. north of 16th St., Holland.

 

Sat, July 14, 8 pm: Salsa Night, sponsored by Tulipanes Latino Art and Film Festival, with music by Orquesta Sensacional.  Lessons on the basics of salsa and Latin dance start at 8 pm, followed by live music and dancing from 9 pm to midnight.  $10 before the event (on sale at Holland Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, 76 East Eighth St, Holland); $15 at the door (cash or checks only).  At Holland Armory, 9th St between River and Central Ave, Holland.

 

Sun, Aug 5, 1 to 4 pm: Ninth annual Potluck in the Park of the Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony; everyone is welcome.  At Ransom Park, 16500 Ransom between 160th and 168th, north of Quincy, north side of Holland.
