Wed, Feb 13, 4 pm: Professionals of Color Lecture Series: Betty Nguyen, "Humanitarian Work: It Will Change Your Life."  Nguyen is a CNN anchor who helped cover hurricane Katrina and the tsunami disaster in South Asia and co-founded Help the Hungry, an organization that strives to alleviate global hunger.  Sponsored by Grand Valley State University Office of Multicultural Affairs, part of Asian Pacific Heritage Celebration. COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES:

(1) The Neighborhood Leadership Academy 2008, sponsored by the City of Holland and the Ourstreet/Neighborhood Liaison Program to "educate, enhance, and empower neighborhood leadership" will begin Thurs, March 6 and run through Thurs, April 24.  The free, 8-week program helps participants learn leadership skills and is taught by a diverse group of local professionals.  Classes are 6 pm to 8:30 pm and include free dinner.   To register, call Janie Briones at (616) 355-3127 or apply at the office, 238 West 15th St, Holland.
