Mon, Mar 10, 7 pm: "Costa Rica Birds and Plants," key components of one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world; presented by Hope College professor Greg Murray.  At Herrick District Library auditorium, River Ave at 12th St, Holland.

 

Wed, Mar 12, 4:30 pm until 6:30 pm: Latino Food Festival.  $5 for community members.  At Phelps and Cook Dining Halls, Hope College.

 

Fri, Mar 14, 6 pm:  Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony meets to hear composer Gwyneth Walker and the poetry of Langston Hughes; sponsored by the Holland Chorale.  Open to all, free.  At Holland Area Arts Council, 150 East 8th St, Holland.

 

Sat, Mar 15: Noon.  St. Patrick's Day parade. Begins at Eighth Street Market Place, travels east to 8th and College Ave., downtown Holland.

 

Sat, Mar 15, 7:30 pm:  Holland Chorale concert, including world premier of "I've Known Rivers" with poetry of Langston Hughes. Preconcert talk at 7 pm. Wed, Mar 19, 7 pm: "Don't Blink—How China and Other Emerging Economies Will Change Your Life," by Professor John Doggett, University of Texas.  He has "lectured widely about global competition and is an expert on the growth strategies of China and India."  Free, open to the public.  Sponsored by Holland Board of Public Works and Zeeland Board of Public Works.  At Haworth Inn and Conference Center, 225 College Ave, Holland.
