Fri, Sept 17, 7 pm: Theresa McClellan, faith advocacy coordinator of GIFT (Gays in Faith Together), Grand Rapids, speaks at PFLAG meeting on her work and the relationship of GIFT to other advocacy groups; learn about region-wide "Gay Christian? Saturday, 10 am: Music, dance, children's art workshop, piñata: at Centennial Park, downtown Holland.  Films all day at Knickerbocker Theatre, downtown Holland on 8th Street. 

Saturday, 8 pm to midnight: Salsa Night, dance; dance instruction 8 to 9 pm.  $10 from Holland Convention and Visitors Bureau in downtown Holland or at the door. At Holland Armory, 9th St between River and Central, Holland.

Mon, Sept 20, 7 pm: Presentation on "the moral issues inherent in food-related social policies and personal decisions," by Dr. L. Mon, Sept 20, 7:30 pm (and Wed-Sat, Sept 22-25): Film, "Tulpan," about a family "surviving and relishing the harsh life of herding sheep and goats on the steppes of Kazakhstan."  Unrated, in Kazakh with English subtitles; 100 minutes.  At Knickerbocker Theatre, 8th St, downtown Holland.

Tues, Sept 28 (through Nov 16), 6:30 pm to 8:50 pm: Holland First program, "to understand our community through the eyes of diversity." Explores personal leadership and cultural awareness in economic development/business, community resources, law enforcement, government, education, art and culture. Tues, Sept 28, 6:45 pm: Celebration of 90th anniversary of League of Women Voters and the ratification of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote.  Local women who have been politically active will be honored at the event, including a Pioneer Award to ACEH member Becky Arenas for her work in educating and registering voters and for her early candidacies for city council and state representative.  Free, open to the public.  At Herrick District Library, 300 South River, Holland.

Thurs, Sept 30, through Oct. 9, 8 pm:  Play: "Lines: The Lived Experience of Race."  The "story of race, discrimination, and diversity in West Michigan," produced by Actors' Theatre and based on interviews with more than 150 area residents. COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITY: Adult education class focusing on the book "Finding Your Church's Unique Rhythm," about multicultural ministry; and two films "The Second Chance," about a white suburban church and its "daughter" church which is black and urban; and "Black/White," an HBO documentary about a white family and a black family who "become" the other's race.  Led by Rev.
