ACEH was founded in Holland in 1999 and is committed to justice, equal opportunity, cross-cultural understanding, and appreciation for diversity.  Members and friends work together through programs, advocacy, and social events to make West Michigan a place where all people are welcomed and respected. Fri, July 20, 7 pm: PFLAG monthly support group and program; showing DVD "Through My Eyes," stories of 24 young gay Christians sharing their feelings, struggles and experiences, how they perceive the church, and what they wish others knew.  Discussion follows.  At Grace Episcopal Church, 555 Michigan Ave, Holland.

 

Wed, Aug 1, to Wed, Aug 22, 6 - 8 pm: Workshop: First-time Home Buyer Education. Week 1: budgeting and property taxes; week 2: credit and affordability; week 3: real estate and home inspections; week 4: mortgages and insurance.  Workshop fulfills requirements for obtaining MSHDA loan financing. Participants must attend all four sessions to earn a certificate.  Photo ID, income verification required.  Sponsored by Community Action House. Sun, Aug 12, 1 pm: 14th annual Potluck in the Park of the Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony (ACEH).  Please bring a dish to share, from your cultural background.  Beverages and table service provided by ACEH.  Music, games, fun for all ages.  Everyone is welcome! Invite family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.  At Ransom Park, Ransom Ave between 160th and 168th on Holland's north side.

 

Thurs, Aug 16, 10 am volunteer orientation/breakfast; 11 am to 3 pm, doors open for event: Project Homeless Connect offers individuals and families who are homeless or in housing crisis a central resource for services and information from local providers.  Volunteers are needed to be greeters and guides at varying times during the day.  Sponsored by Ottawa Area Housing Coalition.
