ACEH was founded in Holland in 1999 and is committed to justice, equal opportunity, cross-cultural understanding, and appreciation for diversity.  Members and friends work together through programs, advocacy, and social events to make West Michigan a place where all people are welcomed and respected. Fri, July 27, 9 pm: TGIF! Dance Party to benefit Holland Is Ready.  $3 for ages 21 and over; $7 for ages 18-20.  $2 from each cover charge goes to Holland Is Ready and its work for diversity and inclusion.  DJ: g.b.  At Park Theatre, 248 South River, Holland.

 

Wed, Aug 1, to Wed, Aug 22, 6 - 8 pm: Workshop: First-time Home Buyer Education. Sessions include budgeting and property taxes; credit and affordability; real estate and home inspections; mortgages and insurance.  Workshop fulfills requirements for MSHDA loan financing. Participants must attend all four sessions to earn a certificate.  Photo ID, income verification required.  Sponsored by Community Action House. Sun, Aug 12, 1 pm: 14th annual Potluck in the Park of the Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony (ACEH).  Please bring a dish to share, from your cultural background.  Beverages and table service provided by ACEH.  Music, games, fun for all ages.  Everyone is welcome! Invite family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.  At Ransom Park, Ransom Ave between 160th and 168th on Holland's north side.

 

Thurs, Aug 16, 10 am volunteer orientation/breakfast; 11 am to 3 pm, doors open for event: Project Homeless Connect offers individuals and families who are homeless or in housing crisis a central resource for services and information from local providers.  Volunteers are needed to be greeters and guides at varying times during the day.  Sponsored by Ottawa Area Housing Coalition. COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITY

You are invited to participate in the 2012 Community Survey. The DELTA Project of Ottawa County is conducting this survey in partnership with the Teens Preventing Dating Violence class through the Upward Bound Summer Program. This survey asks community members about their thoughts on healthy relationships and how to prevent dating violence, domestic violence, and sexual violence. We welcome your participation and value your feedback. The primary audience for this survey is Ottawa County and any community member is welcome to take this survey. We ask that student participants be at least a freshman in high school or older. Thank you for your participation.
