Wed, May 14, 11:30 am:  "To Be Asian in America...Success and Stereotypes," by Connie Dang, director, Office of Multicultural Affairs, GVSU, and vice-chair and commissioner, Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission.  Talk includes demographics and diversity of Asian Americans, understanding Asian traditional values and beliefs, and understanding how values can drive "different" cultures.  Hosted by Partners for a Racism-Free Community.  $30 includes lunch.  www.prfc-gr.org

COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITY: Holland School Board
Due to resignations, there are two vacancies on the Holland School Board that will be filled by appointment; those selected will serve through Dec. 31, 2014.  The Board seeks                                     appointees who are willing to run in the general school board election on Nov. 4, 2014, for a six-year term.  Must be a registered voter living within the boundaries of Holland Public Schools.  Submit a Letter of Intent (guidelines available at www.hollandpublicschools.org  or at the Administration Building, 156 West 11th St, Holland, by 4 pm on Fri, May 9.  Candidate interviews scheduled for Mon, May 12, at 6 pm.  Questions?
