Tues, Jan 26, 6:30 pm: "Beyond Hate and Fear: Immigration and the Refugee Crisis in America."  Panelists Rana Elmir, RubĂ©n Martinez, Richard Kessler, and Liz Balck will discuss "ensuring that due process and equal protection under the Constitution are guaranteed to every person, regardless of immigration status."  Hosted by ACLU of Michigan.  At Loosemore Auditorium, GVSU downtown campus, West 401 Fulton St, Grand Rapids.

Thurs, Jan 28, noon: January Lunch and Learn, sponsored by Partners for a Racism-Free Community.  Understanding the Fundamentals of Racism includes "defining what racism is, examining the language of racism, and looking at the ways it exists at institutional and individual levels; will include strategies to discuss instances of racism in the workplace, at home, or in the community.  $37.74. Community Opportunity

Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony (ACEH):  Friday, Feb. 5, 5 pm:  "A Heart to Heart Community Celebration" potluck and cultural sharing party with music, activities, delicious food, silent auction, more.  Everyone is welcome!   Please plan to bring a dish from your cultural heritage and a nonperishable food item for a local food bank. Dues are $20 per year for an individual ($35 for two years); $30 per year for a couple or family ($50 for two years; $40 annually for a nonprofit; and $75 per year for a business.  In lieu of (or in addition to) paying dues, you may join as a service member, contributing volunteer time to the group.  ACEH is a 501c3 organization.
