TONIGHT, Fri, Aug 18, 7 pm: History Walk and Campfire: The Ottawa. Interactive program with a hike led by park staff, re uses of natural resources throughout history. A campfire and conversation will highlight the Ottawa Indians "to learn how they and others of the Three Fires groups utilized West Michigan before the settlers arrived." Free, open to the public. At Holland State Park Campground (at west end of Ottawa Beach Rd), Lake Macatawa.
TONIGHT, Fri, Aug 18, 7 pm: PFLAG meeting. Jamie Colburn, actor and theater producer/director ("Hedwig and the Angry Inch," "Sweeney Todd"), will speak about growing up queer in Holland. Trans group meets at 6 pm. At Grace Episcopal Church, 555 Michigan Ave, Holland.

Sept 21-24: 17th annual Tulipanes Latino Art & Film Festival. This year's event is presented under the auspices of Latin Americans United for Progress (LAUP). More info in September ACEH Newsletter.
Thurs, Oct 5, 8:30 am: 11th annual Lakeshore Friends of Fair Housing Breakfast: Opening Doors to Housing Choice. Keynote speaker Amy Nelson, executive director of Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana and board member of National Fair Housing Alliance. Community Opportunity
Reciprocal Language Partnership (RLP) will offer several levels of instruction this fall. The classes pair English speakers who want to learn Spanish with native Spanish speakers who want to learn English. The RLP works to build unity and cross-cultural understanding. There is a cost for the classes, which are held at Eagle's Wings Church/Iglesia Alas de Aguila, 635 Riley St, Holland. Call Rachel Patmos at (616) 738-3850 with questions.
Participants MUST attend one of the following informational, hour-long meetings at the church before enrolling in a class: Tues, Sept 5, 6:15 for English speakers; 7:15 for Spanish speakers. OR Tues, Sept 12, 6:15, English; 7:15, Spanish.
