 TONIGHT, Fri, Jan 26, 6 pm: Dinner & Movie Night.  Free event for Marco's Pizza and to view August Wilson's "Fences," which "explores the evolving African American experience and examines race relations."  Chosen by American Film Institute as one of top 10 films in 2016; nominated for two Oscars.  (616) 414-9111.  At Momentum Center for Social Engagement, 714 Columbus Ave, Grand Haven.

 Tues, Jan 30, 7 pm (continues on Feb. 6, 13, and 20):  "Kairos Palestine 2009 A Moment of Truth" ; four learning sessions about the current situation in Israel/Palestine, actions in response, and more.  Facilitated by representatives of Kairos West Michigan. At Herrick District Library, 300 South River, Holland.

 Thurs, Feb 1, 6:30 pm:  La'Ron Williams, storyteller.  Free, family-friendly program in celebration of Black History Month. Presenting folk tales from African and African-American traditions and songs with traditional instruments (rattles, kalimba, mibira from Africa; Cajun drum from Peru; bones and washboard from U.S.  Hosted by Holland Human Relations Commission.  At Holland East Public School cafeteria, 373 East 24th St, Holland.

 Thurs, Feb 1, and Fri, Feb 2, 9 am to 4 pm:  Restorative Circle Facilitator Training.    Learn how to communicate and collaborate in times of conflict or around different points of view, developing skills that can be used informally or to facilitate a formal restorative circle.  Suggested donation $150, but "we don't want money to be an obstacle; please contact us if $150 is beyond your reach."  To register, https://hrcircles.wordpress.com/ or call Hope Church at (616) 392-7947.  At Hope Church, 77 West 11th St, Holland.

 Tues, Feb 6, 6:30 pm: Boys & Girls Club "2018 Youth of the Year" Reception, including speeches and awards ceremony.  Nominees are Ebony Roach, Aalihya Harmon, Jasmin Noguera, and Isabella Quintanilla.  At Midtown Center, 96 West 15th St, Holland.

 Wed, Feb 7 (IMAX-3D) and Mon, Feb 12 (standard), 6:30 pm:  Showing of award-winning film "Jerusalem," presented from Jewish, Christian, and Muslim vantage points.  Grand Rapids clergy (2 pastors, a rabbi, an imam) from Standing Together Partnership will discuss their recent experience in Israel and Palestine.  Tickets $5; for families of 4 or more, $15 total; must be purchased in advance at https://www.gvsu.edu/interfaith/  Presented by Kaufman Interfaith Institute, which is subsidizing the tickets, and Celebration!  Sat, Feb 10, 10 am: Koffie Kletz: "Dutch Roots:  Understanding Names & Genealogy."  Discussion of variety and meaning of names; info about online resources for research (feel free to bring a tablet or laptop to this gathering).  $5.  Looking Ahead:  Save February 17 for Heart 2 Heart Party!

The Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony (ACEH) invites you and your family and friends to its annual Heart 2 Heart Community Celebration, a Potluck and Cultural Sharing Party, on Saturday, February 17, from  5 p.m. to 8:30 pm at First United Methodist Church, 57 West 10th St, Holland.

 Please plan to bring a dish to share from your cultural background, and a nonperishable item for a local food bank.  There will be fun, fellowship, fabulous food, family activities, music, and performances to entertain all ages, plus a silent auction of goods and services to support ACEH's work in our community.

Holland Youth Connections Summer Job Program Sign-Up, Mon, Jan 22 to Fri, Feb 2, 10 am to 5 pm:  First come, first served, for ages 14 to 17 (if you will be 14 before June 9, you can sign up).  At Escape Ministries, 202 East 32nd St, Holland.

    Signups for persons interested in working as HYC program supervisors, Tues, Jan 23 to Mon, Feb 5, 10 am to 5 pm:  HYC is an 8- to 12-week program, Tues, Wed, Thurs, from 8:15 am to 1:30 pm.  Supervisors must be at least 23 years old; they will work alongside the youth, doing the same job; pay is $15/hr.  Also seeking persons with CDL or chauffeur's license to be a supervisor that drives.  Same location as above.
