Tues, Feb 6, 6:30 pm: "Quality of Life: Community Policing for Peaceful Living": hosted by Living Sustainably Along the Lakeshore Coalition: "research, staffing, and training behind local law enforcement's Community Policing work; fair and equitable interactions; the needs of our community." Exhibit
"Black Heroes/Black Friday"; shown throughout February: A selection of portraits of black heroes, by more than 20 artists. St. Louis, MO, artist Sarah Paulsen, who was involved in the Ferguson Movement following the officer-involved shooting death of Mike Brown, drew 50 portraits of black heroes in four days leading up to Black Friday, the largest shopping day in November and then encouraged other artists to do the same. Supported by a donation from CultureWorks. At Herrick District Library, 300 South River, Holland, and at the library's North Branch, 155 Riley St.

Looking Ahead: Save February 17 for Heart 2 Heart Party!
The Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony (ACEH) invites you and your family and friends to its annual Heart 2 Heart Community Celebration, a Potluck and Cultural Sharing Party, on Saturday, February 17, from 5 p.m. to 8:30 pm at First United Methodist Church, 57 West 10th St, Holland.
Please plan to bring a dish to share from your cultural background, and a nonperishable item for a local food bank. There will be fun, fellowship, fabulous food, family activities, music, and performances to entertain all ages, plus a silent auction of goods and services to support ACEH's work in our community.

Signups for persons interested in working as HYC program supervisors, ENDS Mon, Feb 5, 10 am to 5 pm: HYC is an 8- to 12-week program, Tues, Wed, Thurs, from 8:15 am to 1:30 pm.
