Wed, Feb. 17, noon:  Great Decisions series: "Iran, Iraq, Oil, Terrorism: The U. S. and the Persian Gulf," presented by Dr. Roger Durham, Aquinas College professor.  Light lunch included.  At Herrick District Library auditorium, 300 S. River, Holland.

 

Fri, Feb 19:  Art exhibit "Bevrijding" ("liberation"): "Images from the Dutch Resistance."  Runs through May 16.  Open daily except Tuesdays and Sundays. www.hollandmuseum.org  At Holland Museum, 31 West 10th, Holland.

 

Fri, Feb 19, 6 pm: 2010 Leonard F. Stoutemire Lecture Series in African American Religious History.  Speakers: Minister Carlinda Peoples of Angel Community Church, Muskegon, on "Black Womanist Thought/Leadership," and Rev. Eugene Cowen, pastor of Beulah Baptist Church, Muskegon, "The Pulpit Theologian: William Turner."  At Imagine Fellowship, 167 West 20th, Holland.

 

Sat, Feb 20, 5:30 pm: Celebration of Chinese New Year/Year of the Tiger by Chinese Association of West Michigan (CAWM).  Bring 1 or 2 dishes big enough to share with your family; CAWM provides dishes from restaurants, drinks, and snacks. Performances, balloon animals, red envelope for kids, ballroom dance.  Nonmembers: $15 per person, $10 children ages 5-13; under age 4, free.  Differing fees for CAWM members.  At East Grand Rapids Middle School, 2425 Lake Drive, SE, Grand Rapids.

 

Sat, Feb 20, 7 pm: Haiti Benefit Concert: "Holland. Hearts. Haiti," with music and other performances (many by Hope-related groups) to support relief efforts in Haiti.  Suggested donation $15, to Partners in Health.  At Knickerbocker Theatre, 86 East 8th St, Holland.

 

Sun, Feb 21, 3 pm: Celebration of the Lunar New Year, sponsored by Vietnamese Community Council of Grand Rapids.  First hour is "dedicated to the traditional Vietnamese custom of honoring their ancestors, followed by food and entertainment."  Make reservations with Kiet Pham, hungkiet0608@yahoo.com
