Fri, June 11: Deadline for applying to City Career Pathways program, coordinated by the Holland Human Relations Department with a grant from the Holland/Zeeland Community Foundation.  8th and 9th grade students will explore careers and positions in city government; program runs Monday-Thursday, June 21 to July 21, 9 am-noon.  Call Kim Meyer, 355-1323 or Erin Nyholt, 355-1321.

 

Fri, June 11, 7 pm: General meeting of the Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony with speaker Dustin Byrd, on "Islam as a Dynamic Social Phenomenon."  Open to the public.  392-5086. Thurs, June 17, 9 am until 2 pm: Workshop for pastors, "Learning From and With Each Other: Pastors' Journey in Cross-Cultural Ministry."  Stories, reflections, discussion.  Lunch provided.  Presented by Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance as a follow-up to the 2010 Summit on Racism; hosted by Crossroad Chapel.  RSVP by June 14 to admin@ethnicdiversity.org or (616) 846-9074.  At Crossroad Chapel, 290 East 18th St (near Cherry Lane Preschool), Holland.

Sat, June 19, noon to 7 pm: 10th annual Juneteenth Celebration, with entertainment, music, games, activities, food and retail vendors, information tables. Sat, July 31, 12:30 pm (check-in 11 am): 1st annual IRC Friendship Golf Outing, 4-person scramble, sponsored by city of Holland International Relations Commission. $85 per person (30 percent of fee is tax-deductible).
