Wed, May 16, 7 pm: Community forum organized by Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance "to provide an opportunity to share concerns for acts and attitudes that conflict with the desires of the Tri-cities community to be a place that genuinely welcomes people of diverse backgrounds." On Tues, May 12, a racially inflammatory statement was written on a wall in a Grand Haven apartment where the maintenance technician is African American. Sat, May 19, 11 am to 4 pm: Holland International Relations Commission's 4th annual Festival: Celebrating Our Multicultural Connections, with Holland Youth Advisory Council. Music and dance performances, children's activities (face painting, story time, crafts, games), ethnic food vendors, handmade crafts for sale by Las Comadritas, information tables by local nonprofits, and HYAC's first Teen Market Day. Thurs, May 24, 7 pm: "Five Women-Five Journeys" interfaith panel discussion; includes women from Baha'i, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, and Muslim faith traditions. Panelists are from WISDOM (Women's Interfaith Solutions for Dialogue and Outreach in Metro Detroit); they hope to empower women to work for social justice and peace. Free and open to the public. Potluck and Hearts in Harmony program to honor our vice-president, Rev. Angela Taylor Perry, who is leaving Holland to return to Kalamazoo. The Forum "will address challenges and create long-term solutions for a vibrant and sustainable community." Facilitators are Rev. Keynote speakers Terry Keleher and Dr. David Anderson; breakout sessions on internalized, interpersonal, institutional, and structural levels of bias and their effects. $30, includes lunch. TEEN ENTREPRENEUR SUMMER ACADEMY (TESA)

TESA is a week-long, hand-on, interactive experience where West Michigan high school students (going into 9th grade through incoming college freshmen) learn how to launch a business. The five-day cost of $25 (refunded if student attends all 5 days) includes food. $1,000 in cash prizes awarded. Grand Rapids Academy is June 18-22 at the GVSU Pew Grand Rapids campus; Lakeshore Academy is June 25-29 at the GVSU Holland Meijer campus.
