ACEH was founded in Holland in 1999 and is committed to justice, equal opportunity, cross-cultural understanding, and appreciation for diversity.  Members and friends work together through programs, advocacy, and social events to make West Michigan a place where all people are welcomed and respected. Mon, Sept. 10, 4 pm: "Brothers, Sisters and Soldiers: Reflections on Egypt," by Prof. Annie Dandavati on her sabbatical work in Egypt.  Sponsored by Women's Studies and International Studies at Hope College.  At Winants Auditorium, Graves Hall, College Ave. at 11th St, Holland.

Sun, Sept 16, 5 pm (Potluck Picnic), 6:30 pm (presentations): Celebration of International Day of Peace, hosted by Lakeshore Women for Peace and Holland Peacemakers.  Bring dish to share, lawn chairs, and table service; beverages provided.  Bring a favorite poem, song, reading, or other presentation related to peace.  Event canceled if it rains. At Holland Peace Pole, Smallenberg Park, Fairbanks Ave. near 16th St, Holland.

 

Wed, Sept 19, 7 pm: Bread for the World president and World Food Prize Laureate Rev. Tues, Sept 25, and Wed, Sept 26: Hope College Critical Issues Symposium "Reconciliation: Hope in a Divided World."  www.hope.edu/cis/  Tues: 7 pm keynote speaker Miroslav Volf, director of Yale Center for Faith and Culture, professor of theology at Yale.  Wed 9 am keynote speaker Mark Charles, speaker, writer and consultant from Fort Defiance, AZ on the Navajo Reservation.  Both at Dimnent Chapel, Hope College, College Ave at 12th St, Holland.
