Asian Perspective Association (HAPA) in collaboration with Hope College
Office of Multicultural Education.

NOTE: The Asian Food Festival at Hope College, previously listed for
Tuesday, March 5, has been postponed until April; date to be announced.

TONIGHT, Mar 4, 7 pm: Holland is Ready meeting with Dr. James V.
Brownson, professor of New Testament Studies at Western Theological
Seminary, discussing his new book: "Bible, Gender, Sexuality: Reframing
the Church's Debate on Same-Sex Relationships." Free, open to the

Fri, Mar 8, 7 pm: Documentary film: "Traces of the Trade: A Story from
the Deep North," the account of a New England family, their history
with the slave trade, and their journey in the present day. Discussion
facilitated by Dr. Fred Johnson III of Hope College history department.

Fri, Mar 8, 7 pm: Exhibit and poetry read: "Stories: The Artwork and
Poetry of Formerly Incarcerated Men and Women Experiencing New
Beginnings through the Creative Process," with host Red Kingman of WHTC
and special guests. Presented by Holland Area Arts Council with 70x7,
University of Michigan's Linkage Project, and Ambrose. At Holland Area

Tues, Mar 12, 11 am: "The Road to Myanmar: Where Could It Lead," live
webcast with Q&A, by Karen Coates and Jerry Redfern, print and
photojournalist team on Southeast Asia. Free, light lunch included

Fri, Mar 22, 7:30 am to 3:45 pm: Annual Forum of Partners for a
Racism-Free Community, with keynote speeches by Dr. Gail Christopher of
the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and author damali ayo, and breakout

JOB OPENING FOR YOUTH ASSISTANT
The Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance is accepting applications until
Friday, March 12, for a full-time Youth Program Associate to provide
support for major components of LEDA's youth programming, including the
Calling All Colors program and Talking to Kids About Race program. For

LANGUAGE ACADEMY
The Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance offers 10 weeks of instruction
in Spanish for beginners (Tues, Apr 9 – June 11, 9 am to 11 am) and
intermediate learners (Thurs, Apr 11-June 13, 6 pm to 8 pm).
$100 and purchase of book; some scholarships available. Registration
