Tues, Apr 23, all day: Coffee for CASA fundraiser. 20 percent of all
sales today at Lemonjellos will go to direct support for children in
CASA, the Children's After-School Achievement Program at Hope College
that provides mentors and activities for local elementary school
children. At Lemonjello's, College Ave at 9th St, Holland.

Wed, Apr 24, 10 am-noon: 2013 Stand Against Racism event: "Raising
Anti-Racist Children," with Alan Headbloom, cross-cultural
communication specialist at Headbloom Consulting, and Faye
Richardson-Green, leadership and development director, Steelcase.
Free, open to the public. Sponsored by Partners for a Racism-Free
Community. At YWCA, 25 Sheldon Blvd, SE, Grand Rapids.

Wed, Apr 24, 7:30 pm: Film, "The Central Park Five," from award-winning
filmmaker Ken Burns: the story of the five black and Latino teens from
Harlem who were wrongly convicted of raping a white woman in New York
City's Central Park in 1989. Free showing, followed by audience

noon-1:30 pm (luncheon) 26th annual Fair Housing Luncheon & Workshop
Series, sponsored by Fair Housing Center of West Michigan. Keynote
speaker Carlotta Walls LaNier, one of the students who integrated
Little Rock Central High School in 1957, sharing her memoir and her
thoughts on the civil rights movement today. $30, luncheon; various

Fri, Apr 26, 7 pm: Program, "A Cry for Help: Standing Together against
Sexual Abuse and Human Trafficking," with speaker Ilonka Deaton. Part
of May Day Movement. At Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graafschap Rd,
Holland.

Apr 26 – May 9: Performances of "Grains of Hope: Refugee Experiences
in West Michigan," a documentary play by the Calvin Theatre Company,
produced from interviews with refugees who live here. Various dates
and locations; some are free, one is a fundraiser. For the schedule

COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES
The Center for Women in Transition assembles May Baskets of household
cleaning products and personal care items for its clients. Bring
contributions to CWIT at 411 Butternut weekdays 9 am-5 pm or Thursday

Holland Area PRIDE Festival is seeking musicial entertainers to perform
during the event, 1 pm-6 pm, Sat, June 29, in Centennial Park, Holland.

Estelle Lemouel Schemel, who has attended ACEH events with her family,
represents LEC, a French organization that arranges stays for French
students in the U.S.; she is looking for host families in
Holland/Zeeland area for July 9-29 or August 6-26; Estelle, who lives
in Zeeland, will coordinate students' arrival and departure and be
available during their stay. Most are ages 15-18. To learn more about
