Fri, June 13, 7 pm: General meeting of the Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony (ACEH): Presentation of Able Bodies group.  "Willing, Able, and Very Capable."  Four West Michigan people—Lucia Rios, Brandon Melnyk, Elizabeth Ferry, and Roel Garcia--with various disabilities talk about how they define and meet challenges and obstacles in their lives.  Discussion follows.  The public is invited.  392-5086. Thurs, June 19, 6 pm:  Power to B Play presented by area youth as part of the 14th annual Juneteenth Celebration.  At Holland Civic Theatre, 50 West 9th St, Holland.
 
Fri, June 20, 6 pm: Pageant and Fashion Show, part of 14th annual Juneteenth Celebration.  Tickets $15.  At Western Seminary, 101 East 13th St, Holland.
 
Sat, June 21, 1 pm to 8 pm: 14th annual Juneteenth Celebration and Health Fair, with theme of "Community Capacity Building from the Black Perspective."   Keynote speaker Dr. Muhammad Khalifa; appearances by Chandra Currelley and other special performers and musicians (R&B, rap, gospel, jazz, reggae), much more. Tulipanes Latino Art and Film Festival: Film Submission Deadline is Today
The Tulipanes Latino Art & Film Festival is accepting submissions of feature-length and short films, in both narrative and documentary categories, for the 14th annual Festival in Holland September 6-14.  Deadline to submit a film is today, Monday, June 9.  Contact Roberto Jara at (616) 745-0887.
 
Research Study on Diverse Religious Faiths
Hope College psychology department professor Dr. Daryl Van Tongeren and his colleagues are seeking people of diverse religious faiths to take part in their research on religious attitudes and beliefs.  Participants will complete surveys and provide their opinions during a one-hour study session.  The study's announcement says: "You will receive $10 for participating; you will add to the scientific understanding of religious traditions that have not been studied very much at all; your efforts will provide a valuable contribution to understanding the richness of religious beliefs; you may even enjoy taking the survey and reflecting on your own beliefs."   For more information or to apply to participate, email researchstudy@hope.edu
