Research Study on Diverse Religious Faiths
Hope College psychology department professor Dr. Daryl Van Tongeren is seeking people of diverse religious faiths to take part in research on religious attitudes and beliefs. Participants will complete surveys and provide their opinions during a one-hour study session. The study's announcement says: "You will receive $10 for participating; you will add to the scientific understanding of religious traditions that have not been studied very much at all; your efforts will provide a valuable contribution to understanding the richness of religious beliefs; you may even enjoy taking the survey and reflecting on your own beliefs." Junior Police Academy
Three-week free summer academy (July 21 – August 7; Mon-Thurs, 8 am-1 pm) hosted by Holland Police Department for local students who have just completed the 6th or 7th grade. Classroom instruction and recreation; topics: court and probation system, fire department, 911, traffic enforcement, firearms/use of force, crime scene investigation; discuss creating laws, cultural sensitivity/prejudice, goal-setting/responsibility.
