Fri, Feb 20, 7 pm (support group); 8 pm (program): "Welcome Church Forum," presented by PFLAG Holland/Lakeshore. Individuals from six Holland churches speak about where their denomination and congregation stand on inclusion of persons who are LGBTQ and what they are doing to welcome this population. Churches represented are Hope Reformed, Grace Episcopal, First Presbyterian, Peace Lutheran, Douglas United Church of Christ (UCC), and First United Methodist. Community Opportunity: Neighborhood Leadership Academy
The 2015 Neighborhood Leadership Academy is a free program of the City of Holland to "educate, enhance, and empower" neighborhood leadership. Participants will learn leadership skills through a seven-week interactive curriculum taught by a diverse group of professionals. You must be a resident of the city. Looking Ahead
Registration is open for the March 27, 2015, Summit on Race and Inclusion "Moving Beyond Bias." The event will be held from 8:30 am to 3 pm at Grand Haven High School, Grand Haven. Registration fee of $50 includes keynote speeches, a breakout session and panel discussion, refreshments and lunch. Weekly workshops are open to all, regardless of employment status, with no eligibility requirements for enrollment. Topics include job searching, resumes, interview tips and practice, career exploration, basic computer skills, and managing the financial impact of unemployment.
