"Developing a conversation around race relations and how we as a community can embrace diversity."

Sat, Feb 28, 3 pm-5 pm:  Open house for the Nuestra Casa Neighborhood Center in the Westcore Neighborhood.  At 253 West 15th St, Holland.
 
Thurs, March 5, 6 pm to 8 pm:  Opening reception for art exhibit: "Prisms of Hope, Living with Mental Illness" by five local artists who have "shared experiences with mental illness; their artwork expresses the hope and transcendence that creativity brings them." Includes variety of media and subjects; exhibit continues to April 25.  Free, open to the public.  At Holland Area Arts Council, 150 East 8th St, Holland.
 
Asian Heritage Week at Hope College
Sun, March 8, 7:30 pm:  Asian Heritage Celebration showcases Asian culture represented at Hope College; includes Asian food (small portion of Vietnamese Pho and summer roll per person), Bollywood dancing lessons, and how to do Japanese calligraphy and origamiFree, open to the public.  Organized by Hope College Office of Multicultural Education (OME) and the student HAPA (Hope Asian Perspectives Association) organization.  At Maas Auditorium, Columbia Ave at 11th St, Holland.
 
Tues, March 10, 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm:  Asian Food Fest. Menu includes curry, pad Thai, fried rice, egg rolls, fried dumplings, samosa, and sticky rice mango.  $6 for community members.  At Phelps and Cook Dining Halls, 10th St between College and Columbia Aves, Holland.
 
Tues, March 10, 6 pm: Asian Heritage Lecture by Pastor Socheth Na and his son, Stephen Na, from the Cambodian Fellowship CRC; they will speak about their experiences living in Holland as first- and second-generation immigrants from Cambodia.  Free, open to the public.  Sponsored by Hope College Office of Multicultural Education and the HAPA student organization.  At Fried Hemenway Auditorium and Rotunda, Martha Miller Center, Columbia Ave at 10th St, Holland.

Film "Follow Me Home," the story of four artists and their journey across the U.S., an exploration of race and identity, weaving together traditions of Native, African, and Latin cultures; discussion follows with writer/director Peter Bratt.  Six workshops.  Annual Forum 2015 of Partners for a Racism-Free Community.  $60 full day (breakfast, film, discussion, lunch, workshops); $40 morning only (breakfast, PRFC program, film, discussion). Summit on Race and Inclusion
Registration is open for the March 27, 2015, Summit on Race and Inclusion "Moving Beyond Bias."  The event will be held from 8:30 am to 3 pm at Grand Haven High School, Grand Haven.  Registration fee of $50 includes keynote speeches, a breakout session and panel discussion, refreshments and lunch.  Go to Eventbrite or contact the Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity Alliance at www.ethnicdiversity.org, email office@ethnicdiversity.org or call (616) 846-9074.  There will be no on-site registration.
