Tues, May 11, 7 pm: "Understanding Transgender: an opportunity to learn from, share with, and support members from our community." Presentation by panelists. Sponsored by Holland LGBT Alliance, Holland is Ready, Holland Area PRIDE, and PFLAG. At Herrick District Library, 300 South River, Holland.
Wed, May 13, 6 pm: Film "Black or White," featuring Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer seeking custody of a granddaughter. They "confront their true feelings about race, forgiveness, and understanding. Based on real events, the movie is a look at two seemingly different worlds, in which nothing is as simple as black and white." PG-13, 121 minutes. Fri, May 15 (support group, 7 pm; program, 8 pm). PFLAG meeting. "Writing the Story of Gerry Crane," by attorney Christina A. Yared, who is doing research to write a book about Crane's life and story. The Byron Center teacher was forced to resign after outed by a student; he died within six months later at age 32.
