Wed, May 27, 6 pm: Holland Citizens Task Force.  Meeting to finalize objectives, form points of unity, plan community outreach, discuss forming a copwatch.  At Imagine Fellowship, 247 West 20th, Holland.
 
Wed, May 27, 7 pm:  Kairos USA-Holland/Zeeland.  Speaker, Cody O'Rourke of Gladwin, MI, a representative of Christian Peacemakers Teams "that wage nonviolent actions in possible lethal situations in Hebron, the West Bank"  will speak about "what living  under the Occupation feels like if you are in Hebron." At 1st Presbyterian Church, 659 State St, Holland.

Community Opportunities
(1)  Center for Women in Transition (CWIT) May Baskets:   Seeking donations of household cleaning and personal care products to give its clients through May 29.  Contribute a laundry basket full or donate what you can.  Deliver to CWIT at 411 Butternut Drive, Holland 49424.
 
(2)  City of Holland Boards and Commissions: Vacancies for volunteers.  For further information, and to apply, go to www.cityofholland.com and search for City of Holland Boards and Commissions Guide.
Human Relations Commission (HRC):  To consult with/advise City Council on equal rights/opportunities affecting all Holland citizens; to promote social/cultural understanding by discouraging/preventing discrimination, conducting studies, investigations, and other activities that improve relationships among all citizens, protecting their equal rights in housing, education, employment and public services.  City Residency Required? Yes

Police-Community Relations Commission (PCR): To provide understanding of the Police Department activities and communicate information to the community; to provide awareness of current community problems and address issues in the community.  City Residency Required? No

Sustainability Committee (SC): Assists the City Council and Board of Public Works with increasing the level of public understanding of sustainability issues and challenges; will offer recommendations to both groups on initiatives, policies and projects which are of a "green" nature.  City Residency Required? Residency of BPW electric retail service area required.

International Relations Commission: To promote international/cross-cultural knowledge, awareness, understanding, and sensitivity through interactions within the community and across borders.  City Residency Required? No
