Sat, June 6, 11 am-5 pm: Hispanic Center "Big Family Event" open house.  Live music, inflatable games for kids, raffle tickets, free food, information, more.  At the Center, 1204 Grandville Ave SW, Grand Rapids.
 
Sat, June 13, 8 am (registration), 9 am (event start):  1st Multicultural Festival 5K Run/Walk.  Sponsored by Holland International Relations Commission.  Individual, $15; family (up to 4 members), $25. Sat, June 13, noon-6 pm:  7th Annual Multicultural Festival "to celebrate the diverse populations in Holland." Entertainment groups from several cultures,  children's activities, ethnic food, information and activity booths, including ACEH.  Sponsored by Holland International Relations Commission.  At Kollen Park, 250 Kollen Park Dr, Lake Macatawa, Holland.
 
Thurs, June 18, 6 pm:  Juneteenth Play: Power 2 Be.  Free general admission; suggested donation $5.  At Holland Civic Theatre, 50 West 9th St, Holland.
 
Fri, June 19, 5 pm-8pm: Juneteenth Pageant.  Keynote: Kim Harris.  Royal Court program.  $20.  At Hope College Maas Center, 264 Columbia Ave, Holland.
 
Fri, June 19, 7 pm support group; 8 pm program: PFLAG Holland/Lakeshore meeting: Michigan PFLAG State Coordinator Terri Dismore will speak about efforts toward building more acceptance and equality for LGBT persons in Michigan. At Grace Episcopal Church, 555 Michigan Ave, Holland.
 
Sat, June 20, 1 pm – 8 pm:  15th Annual Juneteenth Festival and Health Fair, a community empowerment and cultural enrichment event, noting the 150th year after the Emancipation Proclamation and "Black Lives Matter." Keynote speaker: Vanessa Greene; special guest Janice Allen of Fox 17; bands; special performers; children's activities, information and activity tables, including ACEH.  Juneteenth events presented by the African American Awareness and Development Organization (AAADO) and local sponsors. 
 
Community Opportunities
Community Action House EPIS Empowerment and Employability (EESS) Program.  Now scheduling interviews for acceptance into the next 6-month session of EESS, which helps  people move forward into new career opportunities.  Contact Patricia Relly at (616) 392-2368, ext. 113, for an interview.
 
Step-Up Mentoring Program needs volunteer mentors and van drivers for its summer day camp at Hope College.  Mentors assist a small group of at-risk middle school students during their classroom and outdoor camp activities led by teachers and program staff. Van drivers transport students between home and campus.
