TONIGHT, Mon, April 20, 6 pm to 8 pm (students speak at 6 pm):  Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony (ACEH) general meeting.  Program by Hope College students in an Introduction to Ethnic Studies class and Holland police officers. Students will speak about their experience with a police training exercise. Officers from the patrol unit, K-9, SWAT, and other units will meet one-on-one or in small groups to show types of equipment used in various situations and discuss what determines a level of response to incidents they encounter.  Open to the public.  For info, contact John Yelding at yelding@hope.edu  At Maas Auditorium, Columbia Ave at 11^th St, Holland.

Community Opportunities

4-H Tech Wizards program needs 4 men and 2 women to mentor youth in grades 6-8, two hours a week for a year, including summer, Tuesdays 4 to 6 pm or 6 to 8 pm.  Program focuses on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) skills; most students also take part in the Hope College Step Up program.  Mentors do not have to be "rocket scientists," but willing to learn new things while building positive relationships with youth.
