TONIGHT, Mon, April 20, 6 pm to 8 pm (students speak at 6 pm):  Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony (ACEH) general meeting.  Program by Hope College students in an Introduction to Ethnic Studies class and Holland police officers. Students will speak about their experience with a police training exercise. Officers from the patrol unit, K-9, SWAT, and other units will meet one-on-one or in small groups to show types of equipment used in various situations and discuss what determines a level of response to incidents they encounter.  Open to the public.  For info, contact John Yelding at yelding@hope.edu  At Maas Auditorium, Columbia Ave at 11th St, Holland.
 
Tues, April 21, 7 pm: League of Women Voters-Holland.  Public forum on May 5 ballot Proposal 1 re funding for roads, schools.  Nonpartisan, factual, power point presentation "What is it?  What would it do?" by Judy Karandjeff of the League of Women Voters of Michigan.  At Holland City Hall, 270 South River Ave, Holland.
 
Tues, April 21, 7 pm: Identifying Our Resource Center, with leaders of West Michigan Resource Centers in Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Benton Harbor, Allendale "to help guide Holland LGBT Alliance in planning a center for the greater Holland area.  Sponsored by Holland is Ready, Holland Area PRIDE, and PFLAG.  At Herrick District Library, 300 South River, Holland.
 
Wed, April 22, 6 pm: Holland Citizens Taskforce meeting.  Open to the public, to help brainstorm ideas on purpose, objectives, logo.  (Speaker previously announced for this meeting, John Golaszewski of the Michigan Civil Rights Department, will present on Wed, May 6, instead).   At Imagine Fellowship, 167 West 20th, Holland.
 
Wed, April 22, 7 pm:  Documentary film: "Tulips and Tulipanes."  Produced by Mellon Scholar Group 3G Network at Hope College.  Information and interviews, including ACEH member and former city councilman Victor Orozco; features "the powerful impact the Hispanic community has had and is having in Holland, in hopes that the film will continue a dialogue to improve multicultural relations locally and nationwide."  At Winants Auditorium, Graves Hall, College Ave at 11th St, Holland.
 
Fri, April 24, 1:30 pm: Program "Bringing the Fire to Student Success!" by author and education expert Baruti Kafele, who relates identity, equity, discipline, focus, and resiliency to student success in the classroom. Event intended for students grades 6-12, parents, mentors, and youth-based community mentors.  At Holland High School Performing Arts Center, 600 Van Raalte Ave, Holland.
 
Fri, April 24, 5:30 pm to 8 pm: Closing reception for exhibit "Artists' Responses to #Black Lives Matter." Thurs, April 30, 7 pm: Kairos USA-Holland/Zeeland Community. Presentation by Daoud Nasser about his Tent of Nations farm near Bethlehem and the struggle to maintain its property holdings; Q&A and discussion of "how to support legitimate claims of Palestinians for a place in Israeli society." Tent of Nations has also become an educational and environmental peace farm and community "to build bridges between people and the land, and between people of various cultures with the theme 'We Refuse to be Enemies.'" Exhibits
DisArt Festival 2015, now through April 25.  A multi-venue event with world-renowned exhibits of Disability Arts from around the world, DisArt Festival "challenges its audiences to reconsider the importance of community, identity, and difference."  All events are accessible; most are free.  For information on locations, times, etc. go to www.disartfestival.org/about or the festival hub at 50 Louis St, NW, in downtown Grand Rapids.
