TONIGHT, Mon, Nov 16, 6:30 pm: #RacisminGR Community Conversations, Part IV. Final of four dialogues for community members to discuss and reflect on experiences with racism, bias, and inequity in Grand Rapids. Goal is "to create safe spaces for brave conversations around tough subjects that impact the livability and vitality of the community." At Grand Rapids Public Library main branch, 111 Library St, NE, Grand Rapids.
TONIGHT, Mon, Nov 16, 6:30 pm, music; 7 pm, program: "Moral Injury after War." Chaplain Col. Herman Keizer, Jr, U.S. Army retired, looks at the hidden wounds of war; learn how religious communities can become partners in the healing of moral injury. At 6:30 pm, ACEH member Greg Hulsebos will share a related music program. At Herrick District Library, 300 South River, Holland. A Big Read event.
Tues, Nov 17, 7 pm: Give Back to Veterans Play Group. Family-oriented event includes reading a book, taking part in a craft, learning about things soldiers carried, and supporting vets through a service project with A Million Thanks and another local group, About Proximity, benefiting vets. At Herrick District Library, 300 South River, Holland. A Big Read event.
Thurs, Nov 19, 7 pm: Author Tim O'Brien: "The Things They Carried." O'Brien speaks candidly about war and loss in a presentation about his book. At The Commons of Evergreen, 480 State St, Holland. A Big Read event.

Fri, Nov 20, 7 pm (support and announcements); 8 pm (program): PFLAG Holland/Lakeshore will show the award-winning film "Tales of Waria"; "movie is set in Indonesia, home to the world's largest Muslim population and also home to a community of transgender people known as warias, biological men who live openly as women and who search for love and companionship, whatever the consequences." Discussion follows. Transgender support group will meet upstairs at the church at 6 pm. At Grace Episcopal Church, 555 Michigan Ave, Holland.
