Annual ACEH Holiday Potluck and Cultural Sharing Party:
Wondering what's happening with this gathering, usually held early in December?
Well, we are moving from holly to hearts! Please save the evening of Friday, February 5, 2016, and come to First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Holland for delicious food, music, performances, children's activities, an auction of great goods and services, and more. In keeping with the spirit of Valentine's Day, the event will focus on love, friendship, and neighbors. Look for more information in upcoming issues of "In the Community" and our monthly Newsletter.

Wed, Jan 6, 12:30 pm: Calvin College January Series opens: "Harvesting Hope and Cultivating Minds: Stories from the South Bronx," with educator Stephen Ritz, a Top Ten Finalist for the Global Teacher Prize, who believes "students should not have to leave their community to live, learn, and earn in a better one." Community Opportunities
Coming Soon: Asian Americans Will be Featured in Story Collections. Beginning January 6 (also Jan 16,20, 22, and 25) interested Asian Americans in the community can volunteer to share their story and be photographed at Herrick District Library. No appointments will be necessary. The collection will be celebrated at a community reception in May during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. More information will be provided in "In the Community" in December and January.
You Can Help Your City: The City of Holland has openings for volunteers on the Human Relations Commission (3 people) and the Macatawa Area Express Transportation Authority (1 person). HRC meets on 3rd Thursday at 6 pm. MAX Authority meets on 4th Monday at 3:30 pm.
