Mon, April 25, 6:30 pm: "Comin' to America": Creating Community with Newcomers. 2nd in 3-part series "The West Michigan Response to Refugees." Presenter: Bing Goei, director, State of Michigan Office for New Americans, will discuss federal requirements for entering the U.S. as a refugee and offer factual data on the economic costs and benefits of developing refugee and immigrant talent in Michigan. Tues, May 17, 8:30 am – 3 pm: Summit 2016: Inclusion in Action. Keynote speakers Aaron Dworkin and Randall Mitsuo Goosby; breakout sessions in business, community, faith, health, education, and government and public policy. $50 includes lunch, keynotes, one breakout session, and afternoon panel. 4-H Cultural Competency series: Would you like to share something from your family's heritage with elementary students? 4-H and Herrick District Library need adults and older teens to help children learn about aspects of different cultures (food, music, art, holidays, dances, or traditional dress/clothing)--whichever one or ones that you'd like to talk about or demonstrate with the children.
