Tues, April 12, all day: Coffee for CASA fundraiser: Lemonjello's will donate 20 percent of its sales this day to CASA, the Hope College program for elementary children in an after-school program offering tutoring, activities, and events. At Lemonjello's, 9th St at College Ave, Holland.

Thurs, April 14, 7 pm: Public forum: "Survive and Thrive: Nutrition and Health for Mothers and Children." Dr. Donna Lowry of Ready for School and Tom Post, team leader for Asia at World Renew, speak on need to invest in health and nutrition of mothers and children as a means to end chronic hunger in the world, reduce future health care costs, improve educational outcomes, etc. Sponsored by Holland chapter of Bread for the World and Hope College organizations. Fri, April 15, 7 pm, support group; 8:10 pm, program: PFLAG meeting: "Transgender Issues at Hope College: Some Research Findings," presented by a junior at the college; her research includes 300 surveys of students, interviews, a comparison of resources at Calvin and GVSU, and suggested improvements for structural policies and organizations at Hope. A trans group meets from 6 to 7 pm.

Mon, April 18, 4:30 – 6:30 pm: CultureWorks reception for The ST(O)RY exhibit "portraying the triumph of a community in Zambia through large-scale photographs from Poetice International"; panelists (at 5:30 pm) from Poetice offer "an inspiring perspective of using one's creative craft for good." Community Opportunity
4-H Cultural Competency series: Would you like to share something from your family's heritage with elementary students? 4-H and Herrick District Library need adults and older teens to help children learn about aspects of different cultures (food, music, art, holidays, dances, or traditional dress/clothing)--whichever one or ones that you'd like to talk about or demonstrate with the children.
