  Mon, July 25, 7 pm:  "Welcoming Refugees in West Michigan," with guest speaker Susan Kragt, executive director, West Michigan Refugee Education & Cultural Center; the Center works to support families and individuals "to gain skills for successful integration into the community; to foster a sense of community that benefits refugees and non-refugees alike."  Sat, July 30, 9 am to 1 pm:  Solutions Summit: Community Informed Policing.  "To create space for community members to share concerns and create solutions."  "Group dialogue featuring topical experts, followed by smaller, community-driven discussion groups on how to address issues related to policing and how the community impacts that culture."  Organized by Partners for a Racism-Free Community in partnership with WGVU and Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. www.prfc-gr.org  (616) 466-6187.   At WMU Cooley Law School, 111 Commerce Ave SW, Grand Rapids.

 Tues, Aug 2, 7 am to 8 pm:  Michigan primary election.  In Ottawa County, millage renewals for Herrick District Library and Ottawa County Parks will be on the ballot.

 Tues, Aug 2, 5 pm to 8 pm:  Holland National Night Out. Annual crime prevention and community-building event; family activities, information, more.  Followed by free showing (at 9:30 pm) of the newest Star Wars movie: The Force Awakens. Bring lawn chairs.  (If weather is bad, film will be moved to the Park Theatre.) Sponsored by Holland BPW, Herrick District Library, and City of Holland.  At Kollen Park, Lake Macatawa, Holland.

 Sun, August 14, 1 pm to 4 pm:  18th annual Potluck in the Park hosted by the Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony (ACEH).  Bring a dish to share from your culture, and a lawn chair or blanket for extra seating. ACEH provides beverages and table service. Come enjoy music, activities for all ages, pie-eating contest, musical tiles, prizes, and more.  Invite family, neighbors, friends, co-workers, people new to West Michigan.  Info at 396-2201.  At Dunton Park: North on River Ave, across the Unity Bridge, then west on Douglas/Ottawa Beach Rd, Holland, then left to Howard Ave, and turn right to the park.  The Potluck will be in the large pavilion.

 Dues are $20 per year for an individual ($35, two years); $30 per year for a couple or family ($50, two years); $40 for a nonprofit; and $75 for a business.  In lieu of (or in addition to) paying dues, you may join as a service member, volunteering for the group.  ACEH is a 501c3 organization.
