 TODAY, Fri, Aug 17, 5 pm:  Deadline for performers and visual artists to apply to participate in the City of Holland International Relations Commission's first International Festival.  The event will be Sat, August 17, 2019, in Kollen Park and various 8th Street locations and feature dancers, musicians, storytellers, and visual artists representing the people and cultures of Africa, Asia, Europe, and Australia, as well as Central, South, and North America.  TONIGHT, Fri, Aug 17, 7 pm meeting; 8 pm program:  PFLAG meeting, to take part in an Inclusive Cities exercise and discussion facilitated by the Holland Human Relations Commission.  Gender SAFE support group meets at 6 pm.  At Grace Episcopal Church, 555 Michigan Ave, Holland.

 Fri, Aug 17; Sat, Aug 18; Sun, Aug 19:  Eighth annual Greek Cultural Festival: Yassou 2018.  Thurs, Aug 23, 4 pm:  Richard Rothstein, author of "The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America," will discuss his book and sign copies (which must be purchased at the venue, with receipt).  He is a Fellow at Thurgood Marshall Institute of NAACP Legal Defense Fund and a Fellow of the Haas Institute in California.  At Books & Mortar book store, 955 Cherry St, SE, Grand Rapids.

 Community Opportunity

Reciprocal Language Partnership:  Classes for English speakers who wish to learn Spanish and Spanish speakers who want to learn English: Basic levels 1 and 2 and intermediate classes (depending on sufficient numbers of students).  All prospective students must attend one or other of the information meetings listed here, which are held at Eagle's Wings Church, 635 Riley St, Holland.
