Fri, July 3, noon until evening:  Celebration Freedom Festival, including multicultural festival and food venders (starting at noon), craft show (1 to 7 pm), live stage (5 pm); games and inflatables.  Fireworks at dusk.  Sponsored by JQ 99, 1260 Pledge, Christ Memorial Church, Arbor Mortgage, Redmon Heating & Cooling, Holland Sentinel, Macatawa Bank, and others.  Cities of Holland and Zeeland and six townships are contributing to the fireworks display.  At Kollen Park (Van Raalte Ave) on Lake Macatawa, Holland.

 

Sat, July 4, beginning at 9:30 am and continuing during day:  ACEH members Kerry Shaffer and Jasiu Milanowski invite people to their home for breakfast, fellowship, and fun.  Contribute a food dish if you wish. 399-4642.  At 2273 Ottawa Beach Rd (corner of Ottawa Beach and Auburn; if you get to the Coast Guard station, you've gone 100 feet too far), Holland.

 

Fri, July 10, 7 pm: "How Do I Keep a Roof Over My Head? Local Disability Advocates Ask for Housing Input."  General meeting of the Alliance for Cultural and Ethnic Harmony; public is always invited.  Panelists: Stacey Trowbridge, program director of Disability Network/Lakeshore, and Dr. Virginia Beard of the political science faculty of Hope College.  The Disability Network is seeking comments and opinions from people with disabilities, their families and caregivers, and community members regarding housing options in Ottawa County. OUR SYMPATHY TO Kathy Beal, other family members, and the friends of ACEH member Phil Beal, who died June 30 after several months of struggle with cancer.  Phil was a passionate advocate for peace and justice in this community and in the world. Visitation will be Friday, July 10, from 4 to 8 pm at First United Methodist Church, 52 West 10th Street, Holland.  The funeral service will be at 11 am on Saturday, July 11, at the church.
