Fri, July 31, 7 am to Sun, Aug 2, midnight: VISION Artist Marathon Pro-Peace. Over two days, local Caribbean artist Picardo will paint a multi-media art mural, a "pro-peace event centering on options for nonviolent conflict resolution and peace and justice." Tues, Aug 4, 5 pm to 7 pm: 24th annual National Night Out "Going Away Party for Crime and Drugs." Community-wide block party highlighting police/community relations and neighborhood spirit. Disability Network/Lakeshore: DN/L is accepting nominations for its 5th annual 2015 Ability Award. Nominees may be any resident of Allegan or Ottawa County "who lives with a disability, has a family member with a disability, or is a friend or ally to the disability community." Award honors those who promote a spirit of inclusion and a community without barriers, through leadership, advocacy, and empowerment of people with disabilities. Awards presented on October 20.
