Tues, July 28 (also Aug 8), 8 pm:  Hope Summer Repertory Theatre play "To Kill a Mockingbird," that explores racial injustice that threatens to divide a community.  Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Harper Lee, the book was Holland's Big Read in 2014.  Ticket prices vary. Tues, Aug 4, 5 pm to 7 pm:  24th annual National Night Out "Going Away Party for Crime and Drugs."  Community-wide block party highlighting police/community relations and neighborhood spirit.  Free, including free hot dogs and ice cream.  Activities, information tables, child ID, horse rides, pie-eating contest, music by "Sweet Justice," comprised of local law enforcement personnel.

Thurs, Aug 13, 7 pm:  "Women of Color: Leading the Way in the Workplace."  Six panelists will share stories and talk about what it mean to be a woman of color on the job--how do you find and work with a mentor? Opening Thurs, July 23:  Holland Museum:  "Documented: The Stories of Latinos in Holland" explores Holland's migrant community and its impact on Holland.  Also on display is a collection from Michigan State University: "Immigration and Caricature," the role of caricature and stereotype in forming American values and attitudes about the multicultural development of the U.S., with images from the Civil War to World War I.
