Tues, Aug 18, 6:30 pm: Community feedback and input meeting on housing for people with disabilities in Ottawa County.  Everyone welcome.  Disability Network/Lakeshore and a community research team have been studying this issue and have prepared a report of their findings.  At Herrick District Library lower level meeting room, 300 South River, Holland.

 

Wed, Aug 19, 7 pm: SmartEdge Financial Literacy Seminar, conducted by Latin Americans United for Progress in partnership with LULAC and GMAC.  The hour-long session offers material on managing your credit and creating a budget.  The workshop and workbooks are free.  If 30 people sign up, LAUP will receive a contribution of $400 from LULAC and GMAC.  To register, call (616) 392-5058 or contact laup@sbcglobal.net  At Midtown Center, 16th St and Pine Ave, Room 210, Holland.

 

Mon, Aug 24, 3 pm and 4:30 pm:  Michigan Civil Rights Commission holds two meetings: Formal business meeting at 3 pm followed by a public forum at 4:30 pm to address the issues of migrant farmworkers.  This will be the last opportunity for people to provide public testimony on concerns faced by those in the agricultural industry.  The Commission and several partner groups have held local visits in July and August to gather information that will be included with the public testimonies in a report to be released in the fall.  Open to the public with opportunities for public comment. www.michigan.gov/mdcr  (517) 241-3986.
