Tonight, Fri, Aug 14, 7 pm:  Rosa Parks Institute Pathways to Freedom Finale: Students in this leadership training program will showcase their experiences.  Contact (231) 830-3206 or LARSANNS@mhpsnet.org for information. Tickets can be picked up at Muskegon Heights School Board curriculum office.  At Muskegon Heights High School- Waters Performing Arts Center, 2441 Sanford, Muskegon Heights.

 

Sat, Aug 15, noon:  Some like it hot, some like it not—you can choose at this year's Salsa Showdown. Between noon and 1 pm, taste and vote for your favorite salsa prepared by local amateur cooks and professional chefs.  At 1 pm, there's a Jalapeño Eating Contest.  Award winners announced at 1:30 pm.  At Holland Farmers Market, 8th Street and Pine Ave, Holland.

 

Wed, Aug 19, 7 pm: SmartEdge Financial Literacy Seminar, conducted by Latin Americans United for Progress in partnership with LULAC and GMAC.  The hour-long session offers material on managing your credit and creating a budget.  The workshop and workbooks are provided free of charge.  If 30 people sign up, LAUP will receive a contribution of $400 from LULAC and GMAC.  To register, call (616) 392-5058 or contact laup@sbcglobal.net  At Midtown Center, 16th St and Pine Ave, Room 210, Holland.
